Getting help for addiction takes courage. We at Navicare understand that at each stage of addiction treatment, counseling forms an integral part of the therapy. Our In-clinic counseling services offers the patients a chance to discuss their addiction problems with our trained counselors. At the Navicare clinic, we offer both individual and group counseling sessions.
Individual Counseling
Individual counseling sessions are important to address various aspects of addiction and are required at different stages of addiction treatment. For example, even after remaining abstinent for some time and resolving many of the issues caused by addiction, some people find that other emotional issues remain unaddressed, or become clearer without drugs to mask them. For these people, individual therapy can be both a form of self-assessment and a tool for maintaining long-term abstinence.
The benefits of our In-clinic individual addiction counseling are:
- Privacy
- More time with the counselor or therapist.
- Sessions are focused on you and your problems, allowing you to dig deeper and progress faster.
- Not having to listen and deal with other people's problems.
- Flexibility and convenience in scheduling sessions for outpatient treatment.
These unique benefits make individual therapy valuable to many people, and it works particularly well when combined with group counseling sessions.
Group Counseling
Group counseling for addiction is also an effective way to help patients recover from an addiction. During group therapy sessions, participants learn how to build trust and how to improve their relationships with others. Our Group sessions are conducted by professional doctors and/or counselors to allow patients to encourage one another in their sobriety, and learn that they are not alone in the challenge.
Here are some reasons why you should consider participating in group therapy if you are in treatment for an addiction:
- Groups provide positive peer support and pressure to abstain from substances of abuse.
- Groups reduce the sense of isolation that most people who have substance abuse disorders experience.
- Groups enable people who abuse substances to witness the recovery of others.
- Groups instill hope, a sense that “If he can make it, so can I.”
- Groups help members learn to cope with their addiction and other problems by allowing them to see how others deal with similar problems.
- Groups can provide useful information to clients who are new to recovery.
- Groups provide feedback concerning the attitude, values and abilities of other group members.
- Groups offer family‐like experiences.
- Groups offer members the opportunity to learn or relearn the social skills they need to cope with everyday life instead of resorting to addiction.
- Groups can add needed structure and discipline to the lives of people with substance use disorders, who often enter treatment with their lives in chaos.
